Rounaq Basu is an accomplished urban and transportation planning expert with extensive experience in research and management. Currently serving as the Manager of Multimodal Planning and Design at the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization since July 2023, Rounaq has held multiple positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, including Research Affiliate, Postdoctoral Associate, and Research Assistant since September 2016. Previous roles include consulting for The World Bank and participating as a Visiting Research Associate at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology Centre on two occasions. Rounaq's educational qualifications include a PhD and two master's degrees in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning, as well as a Master of Science in Transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, complemented by a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
