Jelani Lynch has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. Jelani began their career as an Alumni at Year Up in 2008, and then moved on to become a Youth Mentor at Diamond Educators. In 2009, they were a Media Mentor at Adobe Youth Voices, Media Mentor, Boston Public Schools. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a Video Production Assistant at Just In Time Productions and as a Studio Producer Intern at Boston Neighborhood Network. In 2014, they became the Head Facilitator at Dream Builders Youth Project, where they developed and presented life skills workshops at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. From 2018 to present, they have worked as a Dropout Re-engagement Specialist at the Boston Private Industry Council and as a Career Consultant at The Boston Foundation. Jelani also owns and operates J.L. Visual Media.
Jelani Lynch attended Year Up from 2008 to 2009, earning a Technical Certification. From 2010 to 2012, they attended Roxbury Community College, where they received an Associate of Arts (AA) in Broadcast Journalism. Jelani then attended Southern New Hampshire University from 2018 to 2020.
