Kevin Doherty is a Research Engineer at Boston Dynamics since April 2023, with prior experience as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Marine Robotics Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from June 2017 to February 2023. Research at MIT focused on robust long-term robot navigation utilizing learning-based perception methods. Additional experience includes work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Robust Field Autonomy Lab and the Sensorimotor Control Lab, where Kevin engaged in mapping environments and automated machine learning applications for EMG feature extraction. A summer internship at MIT Lincoln Laboratory involved developing algorithms for semantic map filtering and object localization for UAVs and UUVs. Kevin holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Science (S.M.) in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, alongside a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Kevin completed high school at Jackson Memorial High School.
