Darren Sutherland

Vice President - Europe Africa at Borr Drilling

Darren Sutherland has extensive experience in the offshore drilling industry. Darren currently serves as the Vice President - Europe Africa at Borr Drilling, where they oversee the safe and efficient operation of five jack-up drilling rigs across Europe and West Africa. Darren manages a multi-disciplinary team and leads the development of operating and capital budgets.

Prior to their current role, Darren was the CEO of Perfomex (Borr JV), where they successfully led the growth of Borr Drilling's Mexican joint venture company to a six-rig operation in just nine months. Darren also oversaw the delivery and start-up of operations for a challenging National Oil Company.

Darren has also held various director-level positions, including Director - North Sea at Borr Drilling, where they were responsible for the safe and efficient operation of six offshore drilling rigs in the UK and Dutch Sectors of the North Sea. During their tenure, the fleet won the IADC Safety Award for Best Jack Up Fleet.

Additionally, Darren has held leadership roles at Hydrasun Group Ltd., Prospector Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd, Sans Peur International, Premium Drilling (Cayman) Ltd, Precision Drilling International, GlobalSantaFe, Santa Fe International, and Santa Fe Drilling (North Sea) Ltd.

Currently, Darren also serves as a board member for Borr Drilling's Mexican Joint Venture company, Perfomex. Darren provides financial and governance oversight as well as operational guidance to the CEO.

Darren Sutherland obtained a BEng (Hons) degree in Offshore Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 1994. Darren later pursued an EMBA degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the London Business School from 2007 to 2009. In 2000, they obtained certification as a Chartered Engineer from The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
