Alex Shannon possesses extensive experience in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management across diverse industries, including major construction, oil and gas, and petrochemicals. Currently serving as the Senior Group Expert for Growth & Projects HSE at Borealis since August 2022, key responsibilities include oversight of major construction projects, M&A HSE due diligence, and leading incident investigations. Previous roles include Business HSE Specialist at Hitachi Energy, where Alex supported project teams, and Field HSE Superintendent at TAQA Group, managing a team of 12 in a high-production oil field. Significant contributions to safety culture and systems development were made while serving as HSSE and Business Transformation Manager at Oiltanking, alongside a regional role in HSSE management across multiple countries in Africa and the Middle East. With a solid educational background including an MSc in Environmental Decision Making, Alex also holds qualifications in health and safety consultancy and has operated as a freelance HSSE Manager globally.
