Sierd van der Bij has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Sierd started their career as a Technical Assistant at Omrop Fryslân in 2009, where they worked until 2010. From 2010 to 2013, Sierd worked as a Music Journalist at Friesch Dagblad, where they covered the music scene in Frisia. Sierd then joined VPRO 3VOOR12/Friesland as an Editor-in-Chief and Editor, where they focused on promoting local musicians through interviews, reviews, and multimedia content.
In 2012, Sierd started working as an Account Manager for Europe and Southern Africa at Berlin Promotion Agency. Sierd concurrently held the role of Freelance Marketing and Copywriting at Kuandika, where they worked on various marketing projects.
Sierd transitioned to the airline industry in 2014, joining Lufthansa InTouch as a Customer Service Consultant. In 2016, they became a Digital Marketing Consultant specializing in SEO, SEM, and SEA at Amazee Metrics. During the same period, Sierd also worked as a Research Analyst at Thomson Reuters World-Check, focusing on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) in multiple languages.
In 2018, Sierd became the Director of Marketing at Bookatrekking.com, where they handled all aspects of marketing and implemented multilingual strategies for content, SEO, and SEA. Sierd also utilized multimedia platforms such as video, social media, and podcasting to promote the company.
Most recently, in 2022, Sierd joined Omrop Fryslân again, this time as a Contributor to Tsjil International. In this role, they create educational vlogs for a young audience, exploring cultural differences and behaviors around the world compared to Frisia.
Throughout their career, Sierd has showcased their expertise in marketing, copywriting, content creation, and multimedia. Sierd is multilingual, with proficiency in English, Dutch, German, and Spanish.
Sierd van der Bij completed their education at NHL Hogeschool from 2005 to 2012, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education of Dutch language. Prior to that, they attended Dockinga College from 2000 to 2005, where they successfully completed their HAVO (higher general continued education) degree in the field of Culture and society. In addition to their academic qualifications, Sierd van der Bij has obtained several certifications from Google, including AdWords Video Advertising in January 2017, AdWords Mobile Advertising in October 2016, AdWords Shopping Advertising in August 2016, AdWords Display Advertising in July 2016, and AdWords Search Advertising in July 2016. Sierd also holds a Google Analytics certification, which they obtained in June 2017.
