Pieter Verhelst has extensive experience in policy advisory roles and academic positions. Currently serving as a Member of the Board and Advisor on European and international policy at Boerenbond since February 2008, Pieter has also held the position of Assistant at UGent from February 2004 to January 2008. Additionally, Pieter worked as a PhD student at the University of Arkansas for a brief period in early 2007. Educational qualifications include a Visiting Scholar in Waste Management from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Agricultural Economics from Ghent University, and an Ir. in Economics from KU Leuven.
