Matthew Blazek is a seasoned environmental professional with a robust background in renewable energy and ecological management. Currently serving as a Renewable Energy Specialist at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Matthew leads California's offshore wind energy planning efforts while engaging with various stakeholders to assess potential impacts. Previous experience includes a tenure at the United States Air Force as a Supervisory Biologist, overseeing environmental programs and budgets totaling over $2 billion and managing environmental assessments under the NEPA program. Matthew has contributed to significant environmental initiatives both domestically and internationally, including representing the U.S. at the Arctic Council. An educator at heart, Matthew began their career teaching biology before advancing into research and policy roles, holding a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Management from UC Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University.
