Sunny Pippins has extensive work experience in various senior leadership positions. They worked as the Director of Quality Improvement and Training at the Board of Child Care since 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director at Refresh Mental Health from 2019 to 2022. From 2016 to 2019, they were the Director of Operations at the Prince George's County Department of Social Services. They also worked as a Program Director at NeuroRestorative from 2010 to 2013. Their earliest experience was as a Therapist Coordinator at Chesapeake Treatment Center, Inc. from 2002 to 2009, where they received a promotion to Program Coordinator and successfully served as interim Program Director.

Sunny Pippins has studied Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University and has a degree in Psychology from the University of MD, College Park.
