Dr. Sebastian Rakers has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Dr. Sebastian began their career in 2007 as the Coordination EU-Projects at OFFIS e.V. From 2008 to 2012, they worked as a Researcher and later as a PostDoc and Laboratory lead Aquatic cell technology at Fraunhofer EMB. During their time at Fraunhofer EMB, they also served as a Project Manager, leading various projects related to fish cell cultures and the development of vaccines. In 2018, Dr. Rakers joined the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Marine Biotechnology and Cell Technology (EMB) as the Division Lead until 2020. In 2019, they became a Project lead for the "I love fish" project at Fraunhofer EMB, focusing on supporting the stable supply of fingerlings to Malawian farmers and introducing aquaponics for the local population's benefit. Most recently, they co-founded Bluu Seafood in 2020 and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Sebastian Rakers obtained a Research Doctorate in Biotechnology from Universität zu Lübeck, completing their education from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they pursued a Diploma in Biology with a focus on Marine Sciences from Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, from 2001 to 2007. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained several relevant patents from Fraunhofer EMB, although the specific details of these certifications are not provided.
