Scott Giles is currently the Vice Chair at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Inc. Prior to that, they served as the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance from January 2008 to December 2009. Scott was appointed by the Secretary of Education to serve on this non-partisan federal advisory panel established to provide Congress and the Secretary with independent advice and counsel regarding federal student financial assistance policy. Scott was then elected by their fellow committee members to serve as Chair.
From January 2001 to December 2003, Scott Giles served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Committee on Science in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to that, they were a Professional Staff Member for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions from January 1997 to March 2001.
Scott Giles began their career as an Associate at Cassidy & Associates from March 1986 to January 1997. Scott then served as a Legislative Assistant (Director) for the U.S. House of Representatives from January 1983 to March 1986.
Scott Giles received their PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia. Scott also has an Executive Education from Harvard Business School in Finance for Sr. Executives, Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management, and Performance Management. Scott received their BA in Religious Studies/Psychology from St. Lawrence University. Scott also has a certification from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in Mobilizing Your Nonprofit Board.
