Curtis Lawrence is a seasoned journalism professional currently serving as the Senior Editor of Investigations at Block Club Chicago NFP since May 2023. With extensive experience in academia, Lawrence was an Associate Professor in the Journalism Department at Columbia College Chicago for nearly two decades, specializing in urban affairs reporting. Prior to this, Lawrence held reporting positions at notable publications including the Chicago Sun-Times, focusing on urban affairs and public housing, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where education issues were the primary focus, and The Chicago Reporter, reporting on housing issues related to race and poverty. Lawrence holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Mass Communications from Augustana College.
