Jon Townrow is an experienced professional currently serving in the iShares EMEA COO Team at BlackRock since June 2021, focusing on the implementation of EU Sustainable Finance Regulation, including the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and EU Taxonomy. Prior to this role, Jon served a distinguished career in the British Army from September 2011 to June 2021, holding various leadership positions including Commanding Officer of 1 Army Training Regiment, responsible for training 2,500 recruits annually, and Chief of Staff for Brigadier General Staff, where Jon led productivity-enhancing initiatives. Jon's military experience also includes Team Leader and Capability Manager roles, with responsibilities spanning operational management, training, and the development of the UK's Counter Chemical, Biological, and Nuclear capability. Academic qualifications include a Master of Arts in Defence Studies from King's College London and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geoscience from the University of Bristol.
