Claire McQuitty

Claire McQuitty has a diverse work experience in various research and academic roles. Their most recent position is as a Scientist at bit.bio since May 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a STEM Ambassador at STEM Ambassadors starting from June 2020.

Claire also served as a PHD Student at King's College London from January 2018, focusing on the development and validation of a biologically relevant, 3D-dynamic model of liver fibrosis. In this role, they studied the cross-talk between parenchymal cells, the extracellular matrix, and the innate immune system in liver fibrosis.

Claire has also worked as an Academic Tutor at The Brilliant Club from July 2020 to December 2020.

In their earlier roles, they served as a Research Technician at The Foundation for Liver Research, UPMC (in both Harry SOKOL's and Philippe SEKSIK's laboratories), and Institut Pasteur, where they gained experience in various research areas such as liver diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Chrons Disease, gut microbiota, and bile acid metabolism.

Claire completed their Research Masters (Mres) at The University of Glasgow from August 2012 to August 2014, focusing on the characterization of two key virulence factors in Escherichia coli O157:H7. Additionally, they gained internship experience at Institut Pasteur from June 2013 to December 2013.

Claire McQuitty has an extensive education history. From 2007 to 2011, they attended The University of Edinburgh, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with honors in Biology, specifically focusing on Pharmacology. Following this, from 2012 to 2014, Claire pursued further studies at the University of Glasgow, obtaining a Master's degree in Microbiology, with a general focus. Lastly, from 2018 to 2021, they attended King's College London, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.
