I have a server with a RAID1 array. I have two drives, one of them is failing (smartctl reports it as "pre-failure" and it's constantly disconnecting).
I want to replace it, but I'm not sure how to do it.
Do I need to replace the drive while the server is running, or do I need to shut down the server and replace it?
Also, do I need to do anything special to the new drive before replacing the old one?
Thanks.
