Rania Abu-Hamdah is the current Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Professions at Birzeit University. Rania previously worked as a Health Specialist for Save the Children UK from January 2011 to January 2013. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center from December 2008 to March 2010, where they researched surgical endocrinology. Abu-Hamdah also worked as a Research Associate at Wayne State University's School of Medicine from January 2009 to January 2010, investigating the potential role of reflexes in mediating extreme responses to dynamic exercise seen in subjects with heart failure. In addition, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Cardio Vascular Research Institute from January 2006 to January 2008, studying glucose metabolism, insulin action and secretion, and Radio immunoassay, among other things. Abu-Hamdah began their career as a Research Assistant/Teaching assistant at Wayne State University in January 2000 and remained there until January 2006.
Rania Abu-Hamdah has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human Physiology and Anatomy from Wayne State University School of Medicine, a Masters of Basic Medical Sciences in Physiology from Wayne State University, and a BS in Biology minor Biochemistry from the University of Windsor.
