Teresa Shufflebarger has been working in the medical field for over 20 years. Teresa started their career as a hospital administrator and soon transitioned into working as a chief strategy officer for Brookwood Baptist Health. In this role, they were responsible for developing and leading system strategies for the joint venture health system between Tenet and Baptist Health System.
During their time at Brookwood Baptist Health, Teresa made several notable achievements, including participating in the executive leadership team that facilitated the merger of a Tenet-owned facility, Brookwood Medical Center. Teresa also led the development of system-wide strategy for cardiac, orthopedic, mental health, and neuroscience services. In addition, Teresa initiated steering committees with physician leadership to identify and prioritize key program lines for Women's Services.
After their time at Brookwood Baptist Health, Teresa became the chair elect at Birmingham YMCA where they continue to work on improving healthcare access and quality for everyone in the community.
Teresa Shufflebarger has a Master's Degree in MHA/MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Teresa also has a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management from The University of Alabama.
