Angela May has a diverse work experience in the field of art education and research. Angela began their career at The University of Alabama at Birmingham as a Graduate Assistant and later worked as a Research Assistant. Angela then moved on to Auburn University Department of Art & Art History, where they served as an Instructor in Art History, receiving high scores on student evaluations. Currently, they hold the position of Associate Director of Learning and Engagement at the Birmingham Museum of Art, where they are responsible for establishing the museum as a leader in arts education. May also previously worked as an Assistant Curator of Education at the same museum, where they developed digital engagement opportunities and managed content for the museum's teacher and student resource website. Prior to their roles in the art field, May served as a Docent and Tour Coordinator at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
Angela May obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art History, Criticism and Conservation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Angela pursued further education at the same institution and completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Art History, Criticism and Conservation.
