Raitis Kalnins has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Raitis is currently the Co-Founder & CEO at Biorefic, a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Project Manager at ECO BALTIA VIDE starting from July 2022.

In 2019, Raitis worked as a Clean Tech Consultant, and in 2020, they were a Researcher in Carbon Capture at ZAAO, SIA. Raitis also served as a Senior Expert in Carbon Capture from Waste Gasification at the University of Latvia from October 2021 to February 2022.

Before their involvement in the environmental sector, Raitis gained experience as a Process and Innovations Engineer at Eco Baltia grupa from July 2017 to June 2019. Raitis also worked at Process Plant Computing Limited as a Chemical Engineering Consultant from July 2014 to September 2016.

Raitis' work experience includes academic roles as well. Raitis was a Doctoral Researcher in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham from September 2012 to July 2017. During their time there, they also served as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant in Chemical Engineering from October 2012 to June 2014. Additionally, they conducted a Summer Research Project in Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilisation in July 2012.

Furthermore, Raitis gained practical experience during summer placements. Raitis worked as a Chemical Engineering Summer Placement at Recycled Paper Mill at Smurfit Kappa in July 2011, and as an Engineering Summer Placement at a Bio-diesel plant at Bio-Venta SIA from June 2009 to August 2009.

Raitis Kalnins completed their education in Chemical Engineering with Business Management from the University of Birmingham, where they obtained an MEng degree in 2012. Subsequently, they pursued further studies at the same university and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering in 2017.
