Karl Haro von Mogel has had a diverse work experience. In 2018, they began their role as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Riverside. In 2014, they became a Research Geneticist at the USDA-ARS, where they focused on cucumber genomics and comparative genomics of cucurbits. Since 2008, they have served as the Science & Media Director of Biology Fortified, Inc., a role in which they provide science-based information about genetic engineering, plant biology, and agriculture.

Karl Haro von Mogel obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Genetics from the University of California, Davis between 1999 and 2004. Karl then went on to pursue a PhD in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they completed in 2014.
