Michele Vachon is an experienced Sustainability Division Manager and Environmental Manager at Big River Steel since February 2016, with a strong focus on leading sustainability initiatives, environmental compliance, and reporting. Expertise includes managing Title V Air permitting, developing ISO 14001 EMS, and advancing ResponsibleSteel certification. Prior experience includes serving as the Bioregional Planning and Sustainable Design Manager at the University of Idaho, where Michele co-led a $40 million USDA-funded renewable biofuels project and contributed to economic redevelopment efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Bioregional Planning and Community Design and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
