Elizabeth Powers has a diverse work experience in the field of early childhood education and development. Elizabeth is currently serving as the Head Of School at Bezos Academy since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Bright Horizons as an Executive Director for over 12 years, where they were responsible for all aspects of center operations and supervision of a large team. Before that, Elizabeth worked in Germany as a Center Director for Child and Youth Services, US Army, managing a child development center for the US Army. Elizabeth also served as a Training & Curriculum Specialist for the same facility, supporting the professional development of teachers. Elizabeth's earlier experience includes working as the Director Of Professional Development for the Georgia Association on Young Children, where they provided on-site technical assistance and training to childcare centers.
Elizabeth Powers has a Master of Education (MEd) in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Elizabeth also has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Child Development and Child Psychology from Stonehill College.
In addition, Elizabeth has obtained several certifications. Elizabeth holds a Director Credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families, which they obtained in February 2021. Elizabeth is also a Certified Infant CLASS Observer, certified by Teachstone in December 2017. Elizabeth is an Accredited VPK Trainer for Florida VPK GOLD, certified by Teaching Strategies, LLC in September 2015. Furthermore, they hold a Staff Credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families, which they obtained in October 2009.
