About the Position
The Director of Community Voice and Engagement at Better Health Together (BHT) fosters authentic collaboration, ensuring that communities lead and shape our initiatives. This role drives a shift toward equitable power-sharing and community-centered governance through strategic engagement, data-informed insights, and an intentional equity lens.
Focused on strengthening regional capacity, the Director amplifies community voice by prioritizing feedback from the community-based workforce and conducting regular needs assessments. Partners include organizations and stakeholders within the Social Care Network and the broader BHT region. Grounded in the belief that community leadership is key to sustainable solutions, the Director ensures that community perspectives directly inform program development and decision-making.

Essential Job Functions
Effective Strategic Community Engagement:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Lead and support BHT鈥檚 community engagement efforts, fostering authentic, long-term relationships with diverse communities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and implement inclusive strategies to amplify community voice, particularly within the Community Voices Council, Community Health Worker Network of Eastern Washington, Tribal Partners Collaborative, and other Community Care Hub initiatives.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Strengthen partnerships to ensure representation of communities facing the greatest health disparities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Oversee the Community Care Hub (CCH) Landscape Assessment to identify regional health needs, service gaps, and barriers to addressing social drivers of health.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Incorporate feedback from community-based workers (CBWs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and residents to validate findings and shape responsive strategies.
Community Buy-In:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop outreach strategies to increase community awareness and involvement.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Engage community members through regular forums, surveys, and informational campaigns within the Community Voices Council, Tribal Partners Collaborative, Community Health Workers of Eastern WA, and Partners Advisory Council.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Track and measure success through increased participation and attendance, reporting quarterly on engagement impact.
Community Governance:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Direct and support Community Voices Councils (CVC), Community Health Workers (CHW) of Eastern WA, and the Tribal Partners Collaborative (TPC) in collaboration with BHT Program Managers.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Strengthen a community governance structure that includes diverse representatives, prioritizing Medicaid-enrolled individuals and those experiencing health disparities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Utilize Landscape Assessment findings to shape community priorities, improve regional health outcomes, and advocate for preventive care.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Continuously gather and incorporate community feedback into program development and implementation.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Track and document program changes based on community recommendations, measuring satisfaction rates and the number of implemented recommendations.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Align community governance efforts with Board governance in partnership with the Executive Team.
Community-Based Workforce:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Elevate the voices of community-based workers and social care providers in BHT鈥檚 governance and decision-making.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Facilitate regular forums and feedback sessions to gather workforce insights and concerns.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop training and support for community-based workforce initiatives.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Implement workforce-driven improvements, tracking consultation frequency and adoption rates.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Establish structured engagement with CHW of Eastern WA to inform workforce development, training needs, and initiatives addressing health disparities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain consistent meetings with Community Health Workers to provide insights on regional health trends.
Data-Informed Community Engagement and Decision-Making
路聽聽聽聽聽 Leverage BHT鈥檚 data systems to assess community needs, guide program improvements, and track impact.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Share findings with community groups to gather insights and refine services.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Conduct biennial Landscape Assessments with annual updates to monitor needs and gaps.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Ensure accurate demographic data collection to support equitable service delivery.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Use disaggregated data to address systemic gaps and enhance transparency in engagement efforts
Community and Advisory Partners:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and implement a strategy to elevate community voices and integrate feedback from the community-based workforce and Social Care Network partners to address regional capacity needs.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Incorporate community insights into program strategies, identifying and addressing systemic gaps and barriers.
Partnership Development and Governance Integration:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Communicate community influence in programmatic and governance decisions.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Strengthen stakeholder relationships and align community engagement with BHT governance.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Advocate for policies that enhance access to health services and remove participation barriers.
Equity and Inclusion Champion:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and support equity-focused tools and practices, conducting regular audits and continually refining the equity tool to ensure our community and workforce engagement activities are inclusive and effective;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration within the team and with leadership to ensure alignment on goals and processes for community engagement and workforce voice for program and culture improvement;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Understand the importance of how resources, programming, and partnerships can disrupt systemic racism and oppression;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Center the needs of impacted聽 communities when executing functions and developing Community Voice and Engagement strategies;

Team and Resource Management
路聽聽聽聽聽 Supervise the Community Voice and Engagement team, including Program Managers and a Coordinator.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Oversee project management, logistics, and community engagement activities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborate with the Community Care HUB team to integrate feedback into program improvements.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Work with the Data Manager to collect and analyze engagement data for informed strategies.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Partner with Communications to manage internal and external messaging.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Align budget and resources with strategic priorities and community needs.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Foster a culture of growth and continuous improvement.
Fiscal Manager Data Competent
路聽聽聽聽聽 Develop and manage budgets for the EVP of Equity and Community Voice and the Community Voice and Engagement team.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Assemble and analyze data to create status reports and inform decision-making for the Executive Team.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Use data insights to recommend strategies for addressing health disparities.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Support Executive in budget forecasting and ensure accurate reporting for billing and payments.
路聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淪uper User鈥 skill level with Asana, Fluxx, Sage for program/project and budget management.
Qualifications
路聽聽聽聽聽 5+ years of experience in community engagement, public health, or social care, with leadership and people management experience, preferably in nonprofits.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Proven ability to build partnerships with diverse communities, ensuring representation from historically impacted populations.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Experience overseeing advisory groups and integrating community feedback into governance and programs.
路聽聽聽聽聽 Strong commitment to equity and inclusion, with experience in applying an equity lens to community engagement efforts
路聽聽聽聽聽 Proficiency in utilizing data to guide community engagement strategies and program improvements, including collecting, analyzing, and reporting on community engagement data
路聽聽聽聽聽 Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse audiences.

Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to:
路聽聽聽聽聽 Remain in a stationary position for prolonged period;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Move/traverse within a multi-level office space, to/from community partner locations, and various meeting spaces;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Often move/transport equipment, supplies that may exceed 30 pounds;
路聽聽聽聽聽 Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer; and

Environmental Conditions
Generally, in an office environment with visits to external environments that require traveling to and from various locations within the BHT region of Spokane, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry and Adams County and occasionally to the west side of the state. Post-COVID, BHT has adapted a hybrid work approach, encouraging in-person meetings with team members and community partners.
