George L. Blackburn is an accomplished academic and medical professional with extensive experience in nutrition and medicine. Currently serving as the S. Daniel Abraham Professor of Nutrition and Director of the Division of Nutrition at Harvard Medical School since 2012, Blackburn has held multiple leadership roles at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since 1974, including Director of the Center for the Study of Nutrition Medicine and Chief of the Nutrition/Metabolism Laboratory. Previously, Blackburn was an Assistant and Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School from 1973 to 1976, and completed postdoctoral training in the Nutrition & Food Science Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1970 to 1973. Academic credentials include a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MD from the University of Kansas Medical Center, and a BA in Chemistry from The University of Kansas.
