Ian Smith is a seasoned construction manager with extensive experience across various firms, including BESIX, Balfour Beatty plc, and Group Five Construction. Since June 2008, Ian has been leading the delivery of high-end, complex projects in the Middle East while managing work stage deliverables and design programs. Prior to that, from June 2001 to June 2008, Ian ensured the smooth operation of daily construction activities at Balfour Beatty plc, addressing managerial and operational challenges effectively. Ian’s career began as a construction specialist at Group Five Construction, where technical resources were managed and interdisciplinary teams guided. Ian holds a National Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering from Natal Technikon Durban, earned between 1989 and 1992.
