Anneke Novak-Funk has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Anneke started their career as an intern at Genius GmbH in 1999. From there, they worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Heinrich Pette Institute, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology from 2005 to 2007. Anneke then joined The University of Queensland as a postdoctoral fellow and later became a senior postdoctoral fellow from 2007 to 2010. After that, they worked as a scientific editor at EMBO Molecular Medicine from 2010 to 2013.

Anneke then took a break from their career for personal reasons and had parental leave from 2013 to 2017.
