Joseph Mercede, AHJ, CESCP, is an experienced Electrical Safety Engineer and Compliance Engineer at Berkeley Lab since August 2018, serving as the Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction for NFPA-70 and the Interim Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction (IAHJ) for NFPA-70. Mercede specializes as a Subject Matter Expert for Electrical Codes and Standards within the Environment, Health, & Safety Division and is a member of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Electrical Safety Committee. Prior to Berkeley Lab, Mercede was the President of Mercede’s Inc., an electrical construction and engineering business that operated from 1985 until its closure in 2017. Mercede’s educational background includes studies at The Wharton School and Spring Garden College.
