Joseph Lurie is an experienced educator currently serving as an 8th Grade Math Teacher at Benjamin Banneker Preparatory Charter School since August 2023, where responsibilities include instructing standard math classes and Algebra 1. Previously, Joseph worked as a Mathematics Teacher Candidate at Rutgers University, developing skills in instructional design and classroom management since March 2020, while also gaining experience as a substitute teacher. Joseph taught STEM subjects for grades 6-8 at Classical Academy Charter School of Clifton from August 2020 to July 2023, where a robotics education program was implemented. Prior to teaching, Joseph held a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position at the University of Connecticut, focusing on manuscript review, and also worked as a floating substitute teacher across multiple school districts. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Connecticut, an Alternate Route Teacher Preparation certification from Rutgers University, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Philosophy and Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh.
