Alia Somji has a diverse and extensive work experience in various legal and educational roles. Starting in 2020, they worked as a Legal Instructor at BC Financial Services Authority. Prior to that, they were a Lawyer at their own firm, Alia Somji Law Corporation, starting in 2019. From 2015 to 2019, they served as the Department Chair and Course Instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Alia also gained experience as a Lawyer at Prime Law from 2016 to 2019, at Quay Law Centre from 2015 to 2015, and at Goodwin & Mark from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Family Law Instructor at Burnaby School District - SD41 in 2013. Alia has also held positions as a Law Tutor at Sauder School of Business at UBC from 2010 to 2011, as a Legal Assistant at Donaldson's Law from 2010 to 2011, and as a Legal Research Assistant in Human Resources at The University of British Columbia in 2009.
Alia Somji attended The University of British Columbia from 2002 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Human Resources Management and Services. Following this, from 2008 to 2011, they pursued further education at The University of British Columbia, earning a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in the field of Law.
