Chris Cook

Director, Mass Participation Events & Development at BC Cancer Foundation

Chris Cook has a diverse work experience across various industries.

Chris currently works as the Director of Mass Participation Events & Development at the BC Cancer Foundation, where they oversee peer-to-peer fundraising programs. These events raise millions of dollars each year to support cancer research and care.

Prior to this role, Chris was the Business Development Manager for the Tour de Cure, a cycling event that brings together thousands of participants to raise funds for cancer research.

Chris also has experience in marketing and communications, having worked at CSC Marketing & Communications and FortisBC in managerial roles.

In addition, Chris has held positions in the sports and media industries, including the role of Head of Marketing, Global at Live To Play Sports and Sr. Account Manager at Rogers Media.

Earlier in their career, Chris worked as an Associate Publisher and National Sales Manager at Coast Adventure Sport Magazine and as a Sr. Account Manager at Business in Vancouver.

Chris began their career as a Media Planner/Buyer at BBDO Worldwide, where they supported communication and awareness goals for various brands.

Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated a passion for marketing, fundraising, and supporting meaningful causes.

Chris Cook earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications & Marketing Management (double major) from the University of Portland in 1988-1992. Later, in 1993-1994, Chris pursued a Master of Arts degree in Advertising - Strategic Planning from Syracuse University. In 2018, Chris completed a Product & Services Management Bootcamp and obtained a Certificate from UBC Sauder School of Business. Additionally, Chris obtained certifications in Inbound Marketing from HubSpot Academy in May 2023 and in Google Garage - Digital Marketing Certification from Google in the same year.
