Ileana Ortega Brunetti's professional work experience has focused on the nonprofit sector where she has contributed to local efforts in environmental conservation, education, and economic justice.

She holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She attended graduate school at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and has dual degrees, an MA in International Environmental Policy and an MBA in International Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Sustainable Development.
