Marianne Glerup

Raw Materials Scientist at Bavarian Nordic

Marianne Glerup has a diverse work experience in various scientific roles. Marianne is currently working as a DP Lead Scientist in the QC Raw Materials department at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Raw Materials Scientist at Bavarian Nordic from 2015, with no specified end date.

Before that, Marianne worked at Novo Nordisk A/S as a Chemist from 2013 to 2015. In this role, they were part of the QC Chemist Raw Materials Support team and focused on developing Raman and NIR analytical methods for fast ID testing of raw materials at the warehouse. Marianne also gained experience in GMP, analytical chemistry, non-conformities, OOS, SOPs, and analytical procedures.

From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Senior Chemist at Burnblock ApS, where they headed the R&D work in the company. Marianne also led projects related to external tests and R&D suppliers. Marianne was involved in developing new analytical methods for measuring low concentration evaporation of specific chemical compounds from building materials and was granted a Eurostar-Eureka project.

Prior to their industry roles, Marianne worked as a Teacher for chemistry, biotechnology, and economics at Espergærde gymnasium og HF from 2008 to 2011.

Marianne also has experience in academia, having worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo from 2004 to 2008. Marianne'sresponsibilities included group and project leadership in nano/materials science, collaboration with industry, and teaching and supervision of students.

Additionally, Marianne worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany, from December 2003 to December 2004. Marianne also held a Post-doctoral Research Fellow position at Université Montpellier from June 2001 to December 2003, focusing on nanomaterials and the development of new synthesis routes for creating doped nanotubes.

Marianne began their scientific career as a Ph.D. student at Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy in 1998, with no specified end date.

Marianne Glerup has a diverse educational background. Marianne attended Frederiksberg Gymnasium from 1987 to 1990, where they studied Matematisk-kemisk student. Marianne then went on to pursue a M.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet) from 1990 to 1997. In 1996 and 1997, they studied Catalysis at the University of Liverpool. In 1998, they earned a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, with a focus on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Spectroscopy at Risø National Laboratory. From 2008 to 2010, they pursued an HD 1. del degree in economics and business administration at Copenhagen Business School. In 2012, they attended Management Forum in London, where they studied Working with Patents. Later in 2013, they completed a Project Management course at Akademi Kursus. Marianne also participated in a Negotiation Technique course by Jette Skeem at Magister Forening in the same year. Additionally, they obtained a Prince2 certification in Project Management from Peak Consulting in March 2013.
