Jo?o Fernandes began their career in 1995 as a Researcher at Centro Nacional de Informa??o Geogr¨¢fica (CNIG). In 1999, they joined Intergraph as an Applications Engineer, where they developed geospatial web applications and implemented municipal geoportals. Jo?o also delivered trainings on Intergraph GIS and WebGIS products. In 2007, Jo?o became the Technical Director at Intergraph, managing a team of 20 applications engineers and project managers for the successful delivery of projects in the Geospatial, Utilities, and Public Safety Business Units. After leaving Intergraph in 2013, Jo?o worked at Hexagon Geospatial in various roles, including EMEA Senior Presales and Business Development and EMEA Presales Manager, where they managed remote teams, coordinated presales activities, and conducted technical training programs for partners. In 2018, they took on the role of Channel Sales Regional Manager for Southern Europe, responsible for managing partners and meeting sales targets. In 2021, Jo?o joined Planetek Italia as a Business Advisor. Currently, they are the Sales Director PT at Baseform, where they are implementing a long-term sales strategy to expand the company's presence in Portugal.
Jo?o Fernandes has a diverse education history. Jo?o started their academic journey by obtaining a Licenciatura in Environmental Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) from Instituto Superior T¨¦cnico from 1995 to 1997.
Later on, Jo?o Fernandes sought further education and completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Administra??o, Neg¨®cios e Marketing from ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, they participated in the Silicon Valley Immersion Program (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) at the University of San Francisco in 2013, obtaining a certificate of completion for the program.
