Ralph Wheeland is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in embedded systems and firmware design. Currently serving as Principal Embedded Systems Engineer at Barber-Nichols since January 2022, Ralph focuses on developing mission-critical motion controls from the proposal phase to production. As President of Wheeland Consulting LLC since January 2020, Ralph specializes in model-based FPGA design for various applications, including motor controls and avionics. Previously, Ralph held significant positions at BAE Systems, including Principal Firmware Engineer for the commercial aircraft division, where contributions were made to the notable 777x project. Additional experience includes roles at General Electric, where Ralph was involved in ECU embedded controls development, as well as earlier work at BAE Systems in hybrid electric vehicle firmware. Ralph holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Binghamton University, along with associate degrees in Engineering Science and Electrical Engineering Technologies from SUNY Broome Community College.
