Saiful Islam has a strong background in the telecommunications industry in Bangladesh. Saiful started their career in 2005 as an Assistant Divisional Engineer at Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd. (BTCL), where they worked until 2015. Saiful then served as a Sub Divisional Engineer at BTCL from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, Saiful joined the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) as a Senior Assistant Director for a brief period. Later that year, they returned to BTCL and took on the role of Sub-Divisional Engineer until 2018. From 2018 to 2022, Saiful worked as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) at BTCL. In 2022, they joined the Cyber Threat Detection and Response (CTDR) Center, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) as a Deputy Director, and held that position until May 2023. Currently, Saiful is working as the Deputy Project Director (5G Readiness Project) at Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL).
Saiful Islam completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology in the years 1998 to 2002. Saiful then pursued a Master of Business Administration degree in Management from Islamic University Kushtia in Bangladesh, from 2011 to 2012. Saiful furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Management with Project Management from Bournemouth University during the years 2016 to 2017.
