Maria VanderLei has a diverse work experience. Maria began their career in 2013 as a Product Support Technician at Bad Elf, LLC. In 2017, they took on a role as a Window Washer at Calvin College Physical Plant. In 2018, they became a Painter at Calvin College Physical Plant. In 2021, they began their role as a Graduate Student at Calvin University. Currently, they are an Exercise Specialist Coordinator and Intern at Spectrum Health.

Maria VanderLei attended Calvin University from 2017 to 2021, earning a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Pre-Physical Therapy Studies. Maria then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Exercise Science at Calvin University, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
