What do we do?
Azure Summit Technology provides a wide range of multi-channel software defined radio products, innovative signal processing solutions and end-to-end mission payloads and systems for the full range of advanced RF applications including EW, radar, communications, and multi-mode RF operations. Systems can be tailored to meet a variety of requirements for bandwidth, dynamic range, number of channels, and computational resources. Supported platforms range from resource-constrained small UAVs and wearable devices to manned aircraft and maritime vessels.
What will you do?
Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is located on-site at our facility in Melbourne, Florida, with frequent, sometimes overnight travel to our Fairfax, Virginia, office, and our other locations as needed. Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:
The selected candidate will be responsible for mechanical design and support to our production and R&D operations in both Azure facilities and other locations as needed. The candidate will work closely with program managers, systems engineers, electrical engineers, and test engineers in the planning and execution of new and existing hardware designs. The candidate will be responsible for documentation regarding mechanical interfaces in support of all applicable programs including, but not limited to, test procedures, assembly documentation, and inspection. The candidate will assist in the support of all programs related to test fixtures and tooling. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design, heat transfer analysis, shock and vibration mitigation, and tolerance analysis in a manufacturing environment. The candidate will work with machine shops in the fabrication of mechanical hardware through all phases of the manufacturing process. The candidate will work with electronics/RF engineers to establish baselines for mechanical interfaces in proposed designs. The candidate will support all existing mechanical designs and hardware currently in use in production as well as R&D.
Basic Requirements
US citizenship, due to the nature of the work and contract requirement
Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance, due to contract requirement
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline
Experience with mechanical design using CAD software
Minimum 3 years experience performing mechanical engineering in a defense contracting environment
Preferred Qualifications
Active TS/SCI Clearance
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline
Mechanical design experience related to RFI/EMI enclosures, boxes, shielding
Mechanical design experience of structures, fixtures, enclosures, frames for electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs)
Experience using Catia, ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCad
Experience with heat transfer analysis tools (AnSys)
Hands-on experience using milling machine, lathe, drill press
Experience writing inspection and assembly documentation
Experience coordinating with machine shops in the fabrication of mechanical hardware
