Katrien Van Balen is an experienced dramatherapeut currently working at AZ Monica since March 2019 and has been involved with jeugdzorg Emmaus Antwerpen since 2007 as a staff member and supervisor for support services. In this role, Katrien focuses on creating engaging and creative spaces for youth, incorporating context into research, and offering group activities. As a family therapist and trainer, Katrien supports helpers through home coaching and methodology development. Additionally, Katrien operates a freelance practice for outpatient psychotherapy since 2000, and previously worked as a family guide at Bijzondere jeugdzorg Antwerpen from 1989 to 2007. Katrien holds several degrees in theater therapy, systemic therapy, family and relationship therapy, and socio-cultural work.
