Troy Grant has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Troy is currently working at The Ayers Foundation as the Chief Scholars Officer. Prior to this, Troy worked at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission from 2008 to 2023, where they held various roles. These included being the Senior Director for College Access and Success, Director of College Access Challenge Grant, and Director of Student Outreach and Counselor Support. In these positions, they provided oversight and leadership in implementing college access and success initiatives, managed grant initiatives, and supported mentoring programs for high school and community college students. Before that, Troy worked as a Counselor at Tennessee State University, where they focused on developing transfer student pipelines and increasing access to higher education. Additionally, they gained experience as an Account Executive at BellSouth Telecommunications, where they managed key accounts and developed strong relationships with clients. Troy started their career as an Admissions Counselor at Trevecca Nazarene University, where they contributed to increasing prospective student applications through strategic relationship-building. Overall, Troy's experience highlights their expertise in college access and success, grant management, counseling, and account management.

Troy Grant obtained a BBA in Music Business from Trevecca Nazarene University from 2000 to 2004. Troy later pursued an MBA in Business Administration from the same university from 2006 to 2008.
