Fernando Sarmiento is a Chemical Engineer at Axiom Materials, Inc. since June 2021, where responsibilities include executing R&D experiments for characterizing Ox-Ox, C-SiC, and SiC-SiC CMC prepregs and conducting mechanical tests on CMCs according to ASTM standards. Previously, as a Process Engineering Intern, Fernando supported various projects related to the manufacturing of Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, and Aramid prepreg systems and led the startup of a new manufacturing process utilizing the Agile Project Management approach. Fernando also served as an Intercollegiate Facilities Assistant at UC Irvine from September 2018 to October 2020 and holds a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Irvine, completed in 2022.
