Gordon Skopnik is an experienced missions specialist currently serving with Avant Ministries in Waterloo, Ontario, and in South Sudan since July 2015. With a long-standing commitment to international missions, Gordon has been involved with International Teams Canada since 1985, serving as a missions leader and director, focusing on managing international projects and advocating for the people of South Sudan. Gordon's work emphasizes support for refugees returning from civil war, establishing micro-enterprises, constructing schools, assisting widows and orphans, purifying water, caring for lepers and the disabled, and fostering spiritual development. Earlier experiences include roles with various churches, aiding in the planning and training of missions to support the poor from 2009 to 2013. Educationally, Gordon holds a Master of Arts in Social Science - Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in Cross Cultural Communications from Briercrest College, complemented by a diploma in Biblical Education from Miller College and a high school diploma from Mount Baker Secondary.
