Rients Abma is an experienced professional with an extensive background in corporate governance and financial oversight. Currently serving as a member of the Capital Markets Committee at Autoriteit Financiële Markten since October 2018, Rients also holds positions as a member of the European Commission's Expert Group on technical aspects of corporate governance processes and as an Advisory Board Member for the Institute of Internal Auditors in the Netherlands. Other notable roles include membership in the Governance, Compliance and Risk Committee at the Koninklijke Nederlandse Beroepsorganisatie van Accountants and being a Board Member of the Raad voor de Jaarverslaggeving. As Executive Director of Stichting Eumedion since January 2006, Rients advocates for the interests of institutional investors in corporate governance and sustainability. Previous experience includes board membership at the International Corporate Governance Network and policy advisory roles within the Ministry of Finance. Rients holds a Master’s degree in Monetary Economics from the University of Groningen.
