David Calhoun is an experienced Senior Software Engineer at Automattic who specializes in building the Gutenberg block editor for the WordPress iOS and Android apps with React Native. Prior to their current role, David was the Director of Engineering at GoNoodle where David identified and planned long-term investments for products and internal tooling. With a background in Front-End Engineering and as a Senior UX/UI Designer, David has a strong track record of designing, developing, and scaling applications used by teachers and families. David's diverse skill set includes experience in front-end development, design, and mentoring engineering teams. David's educational background includes a BA in Advertising and Graphic Design from The University of Alabama.
