Cathy Rainsford is an experienced professional in the communications and media sector, currently serving as General Manager of the Consumer Division and previously of the Content and Consumer Division at the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) since March 2020. Prior to this role, Rainsford held various Assistant Secretary positions at the Department of Communications and the Arts from January 2016 to April 2024, including roles in the Spectrum Branch, Spectrum and Security, Media Branch, and Classification. Additional experience includes working as Assistant Secretary in the Classification Branch at the Attorney-General's Department in mid-2015, as well as serving in the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department from June 2013 to August 2015 as Assistant Secretary for the Native Title Unit. Rainsford began their career in the Attorney-General's Department as Acting Assistant Secretary from September 2012 to June 2013. Rainsford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Adelaide, obtained between 1992 and 1997.
