Sean Stevens

Director Of General And Trauma Emergency Surgery at Austin Health

Sean Stevens has a diverse work experience in the field of surgery and medicine. Sean started their career as a General Surgery Registrar at Austin Health in 2013, where they worked until 2019. During their time there, they also served as the Supervisor of Prevocational Surgical Training. In 2019, Sean joined Corangamite Surgical as a General Surgeon, and at the same time, they became a Surgical Clinical Supervisor at the University of Melbourne. Prior to these roles, they worked as a Medical Officer in the Australian Army starting in 2011. Sean has also gained experience in teaching as an Anatomy Demonstrator at The University of Melbourne in 2012. Currently, they hold the position of Director of General And Trauma Emergency Surgery at Austin Health since April 2021.

Sean Stevens has a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Monash University, which they obtained from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, they pursued an Honours Degree in Biomedical Science with a focus on Neurophysiology at Monash University. From 2004 to 2008, they studied at the University of Melbourne and earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. In 2011, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy at the University of Melbourne. Sean furthered their education at The University of Queensland in 2012, where they obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Global Health. Sean then pursued a Masters of Surgical Education from the University of Melbourne, which they completed from 2015 to 2018. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Surgical Education at the University of Melbourne.
