Giam Swiegers became Aurecon’s Chair in January 2021 and has been a non-executive member of the board since 2019.
Previously, Giam was the Chief Executive Officer of Aurecon from 2015 to 2019. During his term as CEO at Aurecon, he sat on the Aurecon Group Board, the Aurecon Australasia Board, the Aurecon South Africa Board and was the Chair of the Aurecon Health and Safety Committee.
Prior to joining Aurecon, Giam was Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Australia for 12 years. He was a member of Deloitte’s Global Board, Global Board Governance Committee and was also a member of the Deloitte Global Executive Committee.
Giam viewed innovation and diversity as core to his vision and leadership culture, transforming the business to ensure it continued as a sustainable and creative company. While at Aurecon, the company has received numerous accolades, including twice being listed in AFR’s Most Innovative Companies, named LinkedIn’s Top Companies two years in a row in Australia, and in 2016 winning the AHRI Inclusive Workplace Award.
Giam’s dedication to building strong and diverse cultures, and his outstanding efforts to improve the recognition of women in the workplace, have been widely recognised. In 2005 he was named ‘Best CEO for the Advancement of Women in Business’ by the Australian Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women Agency.
He currently serves as a non-executive director to the Australian Design Council.
