Ryan Richards has a wealth of experience in product and channel marketing. Ryan began their career in 2005 as a QA Engineer/Test Lead at E-MU Systems, where they developed and conducted automated and manual test plans for a variety of audio hardware and software products. Ryan also built quality assurance training and brought up a remote SQA team in Hefei, China, and implemented on-site Microsoft WHQL testing.
In 2007, Ryan joined Creative Labs as a Product & Channel Marketing Manager. Ryan oversaw all marketing in the United States including product launches, retail and online merchandising, promotion strategies, and EOL/product lifecycle activities. Ryan managed marketing, P&L, and lifecycle for numerous product categories such as Mac/PC speakers, headphones, wireless speakers, mp3 players, and webcams. Ryan built Creative's Bluetooth speaker line business, achieving status of one of the top 10 brands in the wireless speaker category by NPD in 2011 and 2012. Ryan also served as a Senior Product Marketing Specialist, where they spearheaded product positioning, and market research for Sound Blaster Sound Cards.
In 2013, Ryan joined Sonos, Inc. as a Director, Global Product Marketing, where they led the Product Marketing team covering all consumer and commercial hardware, software, and subscription services. Ryan owned total go-to-market product strategy including consumer insights, product positioning, key value propositions, launch strategies, and product lifecycle events. Ryan launched into the portable speaker market with Sonos Move, the company's first battery-powered speaker which has become the best-selling premium portable speaker $300+. Ryan also served as Senior Manager/Director of Sonos.com, where they led commercial and content strategy for Sonos.com, managed development prioritization for content and ecommerce features, and drove ecommerce business results that far exceeded Sonos' overall growth every year. Additionally, they served as Channel Marketing Manager, Americas, where they led marketing strategy and execution for Amazon US, developing marketing programs to drive top line revenue and Sonos brand awareness on the Amazon platform. Ryan managed performance marketing for US and Canada including Paid Search, Display/Programmatic, Paid Social, and Affiliates.
Currently, Ryan is the Chief Marketing Officer and VP Hardware Product Management at Aura Home, Inc.
Ryan Richards obtained their BA in Ryan'story from the University of California, Berkeley from 1997 to 2002. In 2021, they obtained a Section4 Certified Product Strategist from Section4. In 2022, they obtained a How to Transform Tables with SQL Course, Learn Intermediate SQL for Marketers and Product Managers Course, and Learn SQL Course from Codecademy.
