Jay Gogue serves as President Emeritus at Auburn University since May 2022, having previously held the role of Interim Chancellor at New Mexico State University from April 2023 to May 2024. Gogue's extensive leadership experience includes tenure as President Emeritus and President at Auburn University from 2007 to 2019, President and Chancellor at the University of Houston from 2003 to 2007, and President at New Mexico State University from 2000 to 2003. Earlier roles include Provost at Utah State University from 1995 to 2000 and Vice President for Research at Clemson University from 1986 to 1995. Gogue began a career in academia as a Scientist for the National Park Service from 1973 to 1986. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Horticulture from Michigan State University, as well as a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Horticulture from Auburn University.
