Matt Traeger currently serves as Counsel (Senior Lawyer) in the Office of General Counsel (People, Security, and Information team) with the Australian Government Solicitor since March 2022. Prior to this role, Matt held positions as Counsel and Executive Adviser to the Secretary at the Attorney-General's Department, and Counsel across various teams at the Australian Government Solicitor. Additional experience includes serving as a Research Officer for the Murray-Darling Basin Royal Commission and as a Board Director for UN Youth Australia. Matt's earlier roles encompass a combination of legal internships and leadership positions, including a Law Clerk role at the SA Crown Solicitor's Office and Team Leader for Elevate Education in South Australia. Matt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law Australia, and has studied Politics and Legal History at North Carolina State University.
