Aaron Owens has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Aaron began their career as a Mechanical Production Technician at Condux International, where they gained experience in mechanical assembly of fiber optic cable blowers and related equipment.
Aaron later pursued an internship at Micro-Trak Systems, Inc., where they were involved in the design, testing, and validation of automation and distribution equipment for agriculture and road service industries. During this internship, they gained skills in mechanical design/drafting and electrical cable drafting.
Aaron also worked as a Research Experience for Undergradulates at Iowa State University, where they conducted research on Interactive Mesh-Free Stress Analysis methods at the Virtual Reality Application Center. Aaron had the opportunity to research academic literature for published mesh-free analysis methodologies and perform meshing of closed form geometries.
Their career then led him to Bose Corporation, where they held several roles including Mechanical Design Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, and Senior Mechanical Engineer. In these positions, they led new product research and development, conducted feasibility testing, and generated structural and modal analysis. Aaron also worked across groups to create requirements, estimate expense, and generate concepts.
Most recently, Aaron has been working at AtriCure, Inc. as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and currently as a Principal Mechanical Engineer. In both roles, they have been the technical lead for a multi-site cross-functional team involved in the development of new Class III catheters, introducers, and dilators for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Aaron has conducted research using bench, porcine, and cadaver models for feasibility evaluation, specification development, and design validation. Additionally, they have created product development documentation to support FDA and EU MDR design controls.
Overall, Aaron's work experience showcases their expertise in mechanical engineering, product development, and research. Aaron has a strong background in medical device development, specifically in the field of atrial fibrillation treatment.
Aaron Owens received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering & Mathematics from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where they studied from 2000 to 2005. Aaron also obtained additional certifications in Heartsaver CPR AED from the Cardiac Science Group in January 2015 and Forklift Operator Safety Training from the Minnesota Supply Company in March 2014.
